3.5 stars. Three Men in a Boat (Not to Mention the Dog) was written in 1889 by Jerome K. Jerome. It's the story of three friends (and a dog) who decide to spend their holiday boating on the Thames. I really enjoyed much of the writing, which reminded me of a somewhat less madcap Wodehouse situation. I probably would've been able to give it 4 stars if Jerome hadn't sometimes wandered off the point. He would ramble on poetically about the beauty of the countryside. Meanwhile, I would wander off in my mind, waiting for Jerome to get back on track. I did love the three characters (and the dog). Not to be missed is the discussion of the advantages of cheese as a travelling companion!
