Flavia de Luce is a precocious 11-year-old sleuth with a penchant for solving murders and a a love of all things poison. She and her eccentric family live in an old rambling estate in England. Of course, she's almost completely unsupervised, which alloys her to get into all kinds of mischief. Her Aunt Felicity threatens her, "Imertinent children ought to be given six coats of shellac and set up in a public place as a warining to others." Personally, Flavia is my type of kid.
I thought the story was mostly fun but it dragged out towards the end.
