Last Night at the Lobster - Stewart O'Nan Poignant story of the last day at a Red Lobster restaurant on the outskirts of a failing mall somewhere in Connecticut. The main character, Manny, manages said restaurant, and he valiantly tries to run it well, in spite of most of his staff deserting him on this final day. There is an impending snow storm to add to the feeling of heaviness,a muffled sorrow. O'Nan is a beautiful writer and he paints a strong picture. Not a lot happens in this story, but O'Nan creates real characters who somehow get to you.
