Split - Swati Avasthi I didn't start out liking 16-year-old Jace Witherspoon. He's angry and a self-described bastard. Yet, I ended up really rooting for him. Hoping he would make good choices, hoping he could heal. The relationships in this book felt so real, so painful. No one lives happily ever after in a story about domestic violence and child abuse, so that's not what happens here. What does happen is Jace starts to make a life for himself that doesn't rely on the way things have always been. He doesn't have to turn into his father. He doesn't have to clam up whenever someone tries to get close to him. A powerful read.
